Dallas-Fort Worth Rail Trails

Dallas-Fort Worth

When it comes to long-distance travel, airplanes have replaced trains in convenience and popularity. Fortunately, many of the former train routes have been repurposed as these great hiking and biking rail trails around the DFW, and our real estate agents love to explore them. Take in the beautiful Texas scenery when you plan a hike on these Dallas-Fort Worth rail trails.

  • Katy Trail
While the Katy Trail spans just 3.5 miles near Dallas homes for sale, its beauty and proximity draws more than 1.5 million visits each year. Established in 2000, the trail traces the line once used by the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, commonly referred to as the K-T. More than 125 acres of local parks can be accessed using the pet-friendly trail, which is also the site of an annual 5K race. The Katy Trail Art initiative recently completed its first installation, a series of five sculptures suspended from trees. Hours are 5 a.m. - midnight daily.

  • Santa Fe Trail
Echoes of the Wild West past of Texas can be heard in the name of the Santa Fe Trail. The 4.3-mile route uses a corridor once belonging to the railroad of the same name. Bring Fido along to catch waterfront views of White Rock Lake at one end, with the vibrant neighborhoods of Deep Ellum and Fair Park at the other end. The Santa Fe also makes up part of the route for the Dallas Marathon, regarded as one of the top long-distance races in the country. Friends of Santa Fe Trail is a non-profit group that supports the trail through fundraising, enhancements, and maintenance.

  • Chaparral Rail Trail
History is embedded in the 35-mile span of the Chaparral Rail Trail. Starting in the quaintly-named town of Farmersville, the trailhead is named for Audie Murphy, the iconic WWII hero who once made his home here. Nearby is the Historic Onion Shed, a restored building dating back to the 1930s. The path is a mix of pavement and gravel, and the trail is a favorite spot for geocaching. Outside the city, there are many stretches of undeveloped land, creating a lovely background that makes this trail a favorite.

  • A-train Rail Trail
In a twist on rail trails, rails-with-trails are active railroad corridors with adjacent paths for hiking and biking. The 19-mile A-train Rail Trail connects the Dallas suburbs of Denton and Lewisville with a commuter line as well as a multipurpose path for non-motorized travel. Spend a day with the family hiking the trail and visiting Lewisville's Railroad Park, which includes three man-made lakes, an off-leash dog park, and outdoor fitness equipment.

When you live in the DFW, every day can be an adventure. Thinking about moving to the area and starting your own new adventure? If you're looking at Fort Worth homes for sale, contact us at RE/MAX DFW Associates for friendly and knowledgeable help.

RMDFW Setting New Record in the Exurbs

31% of Closings in Exurb Counties

Forget Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton Counties.  The move is on to the exurbs.   This month, November 2021, 31% of all RMDFW home closings were NOT in the main four metro counties.   The closings were in Kaufman, Rockwall, Ellis, Grayson, Hood and Johnson counties – the new exurb counties of the Metroplex.  Affordable, new housing is sprouting up 25, 35, 45 miles away from Dallas – and young millennial families are snatching them up.  One year ago, 15% of all November RMDFW closings were new homes sales.  This November it is about 42% - a huge increase.  Since there is a lack of inventory for new homebuyers, they are moving further out to the exurbs.   Kaufman County (Heartland, Forney, Crandall) leads the way, then Rockwall County (Royce City, Fate), then Grayson (Van Alstyne, Melissa).

5 Facts About the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District

DFW Historic Districts

Looking for a fun and exciting way to explore a part of Texas history right here in Fort Worth? Our real estate agents have introduced plenty of new homeowners to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District.

When looking at Fort Worth homes for sale, you want to see everything the community has to offer. The rich and exciting story of Texas comes alive when you visit the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District!

The Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District sits just north of the central business district in Fort Worth. A section of 98 acres that encompasses most of the Stockyards has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976, an honor reflecting its unique place as a livestock center renowned throughout the Lone Star State.

The history of the Stockyards begins with the arrival of railroads in 1876. The Fort Worth Union Stockyards were opened by 1890, covering an expansive area of more than 200 acres. Fort Worth also became home to its very own meat processing plant in February of that year. In its heyday, there were four distinct stockyards.

Before long, what is now the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District sold more than 1 million head of cattle per year.

Today, the Historic District designation applies to 46 buildings and one other structure, as well as noted Texas Historic Landmarks, including the entrance sign, the Livestock Exchange Building, and the site of the Stockyards Hotel. Entertainment and shopping venues capitalize on Fort Worth's indelible reputation as "Cowtown."

Making the Most of Your Trip to the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District

There's plenty to see and do in the Fort Worth Stockyards, so you'll want to know a bit about it before you go.

Let's take a closer look at some fun facts to remember:

  1. The Stockyards Are (Very) Horse-Friendly
While the Stockyards are most famous for cows, they are also horse-friendly. In fact, the Stockyards Stables were re-opened back in 2011 after a full remodeling. Sitting next to the Hyatt Hotel in an original circa 1912 building, they provide full-care and overnight horse boarding. Boarders can ride their horses all over the Stockyards.

  2. You Can Enjoy a Heritage Railway Service
The Grapevine Vintage Railroad continues to operate a heritage railway service between the Stockyards and Grapevine-Main Street Station in Grapevine, Texas, a drive of about half an hour. The Railroad operates an authentic 1896-era steam locomotive and also performs occasional holiday excursions throughout the year.

  3. You'll See a Truly Unique Cattle Drive
What would Cowtown be without cows? As a visitor to the Stockyards, you have the opportunity to see the world's only twice-daily cattle drive. Known as the Fort Worth Herd, it takes place every day at 11:30 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. down East Exchange Avenue. The kids love it!

  4. An Authentic Rodeo Experience Awaits
Texas is the birthplace of rodeo, and you'll witness heart-pumping action right at the Stockyards Championship Rodeo. It's all situated in an auditorium with a 2,300-person capacity, perfect to get a great view of bull riding, barrel racing, calf roping, and much more. Plenty of event spaces are available for rent.

  5. Dance the Night Away at Billy Bob's
Everything's bigger in Texas, and that goes double for the country-western music scene. Billy Bob's Texas is the world's largest honky-tonk, with nearly three acres under one roof. Aside from the Texas-sized dance floor, you'll also discover the full restaurant and, believe it or not, a rodeo area active every Friday and Saturday.

Dallas: Find Your Inner Green Thumb

Gardening Tips - Dallas - RE/MAX DFW Associates

Gardeners are so lucky in the Dallas area. With a little bit of effort, you can grow vegetable crops almost all year long in our warm, sunny climate. That long growing season is also great for producing abundant flowers that nourish butterflies in spring, summer and fall.

Our real estate agents can help you find just the right gardening spot among all our Dallas homes for sale.

In the meantime, here are some things to know about gardening in North Texas, and some recommendations for spring and summer planting.

Lone Star Weather: Tough on Gardeners

Weather in North Texas tends to be changeable, and that's truer than ever in these warmer times. During our recent spring, we've seen 95-degree days, followed by a norther that sent the mercury plummeting down to the 30s. Those sudden changes can be tough on gardens, so research plants carefully before you buy. The Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service in Dallas should be your go-to source for sustaining your garden through inclement weather.

Garden experts abound in North Texas and can advise you on protecting plants from sudden frosts or too much summer sun. For instance, situating plants sensitive to frost by a sunny wall in a warm microclimate can help, as can erecting a vine-covered trellis to shade plants prone to withering from harsh afternoon sun.

Also, watch out for exposed locations where fierce spring winds may wreak havoc, drying out or breaking your tender vegetables or flowers. Planting or erecting windbreaks can help.

Pests

It's warm here most of the year, and in summer, it's downright hot. Warm climates usually have an abundance of garden pests and diseases that plague gardens, so be prepared. While some gardeners may adopt a regimen of spraying with chemicals, organic gardening experts support more earth-friendly methods such as using organic fertilizer, compost, and mulch; using organic applications to control garden pests and diseases; and planting plants adapted for our climate.

How to Plant

One of the best garden designs for our area is the raised bed. Raised beds keep plant roots from bogging down in our clayey soils during wet spells. A 4-foot by 6-foot frame (these are available commercially) can get you started.

Double dig your planting spot to get rid of any rocks or roots. Place the frame, making sure it's level and bracing it to keep sides from bowing. Fill it with layers of garden soil and compost, then plant plants, seeds, or seedlings. Cover with mulch. Add extra beds if you have room.

Best Plants for North Texas

When choosing plant material, you'd do well to study Texas A&M's recommendations for EarthKind landscaping. The recommended plants stand up to the heat and drought of North Texas, having lower water needs than many other plants.

  1. Vegetables
After March 12, which is considered the last date for frost in our area, you can plant cucumbers, lima beans, tomatoes, corn, squash, peppers, radishes, and snap beans. In late April, plant watermelon, eggplant, okra, cantaloupe, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin.

In July, plant sweet and hot peppers, okra, and tomatoes to harvest in the fall.

In August, plant broccoli, parsley, okra, onion, squash, collards, and watermelon for the fall.

  2. Flowers
In May, plant hot-weather annuals, including periwinkles, salvia, zinnias, coleus, and portulaca. June annuals might include purslane, caladiums, Mexican heather, begonia, and hibiscus.

In August, plant perennials that flower in the fall, including Mexican mint marigold, rain lilies, and chrysanthemums.

Take One of These Scenic Drives Around the DFW

Scenic Drives - DFW - RE/MAX DFW Associates

The wide-open spaces of Texas are too tempting not to explore on four wheels. Whether you're a native Texan or a visitor hoping to move into one of our Fort Worth homes for sale, you'll discover new treasures hiding around every corner. From charming towns to unspoiled landscapes with virtually no one else around for miles, our real estate agents encourage you to take one of these scenic drives around the DFW to uncover everything The Lonestar State has to offer.

  • Lonesome Highway
Have you ever wanted to get away from it all? Then the Lonesome Highway is the ideal route for you. Great for cruising alone in your car or atop a motorcycle, this lonely stretch of road will take you from the DFW up to the foot of the Guadalupe Mountains. After traveling west on Highway 285, you'll head south on Highway 180. Crank up the tunes and put the windows down; on the Lonesome Highway, you won't pass much more than the occasional tumbleweed and endless Texan views.

  • The Road to Texarkana
Perhaps you want to get away from it all without getting away from everything? Then hit the Road to Texarkana and leave Texas for a few hours in Arkansas. A neighbor to the north, Arkansas has plenty of its own natural beauty to explore. Texarkana is a city that sits on the border, blending the best of both worlds culturally. This easy drive is straight up Interstate 30, providing a straight-forward ride with no map necessary.

  • Texas Swiss Alps Scenic Drive
The Swiss Alps provide one of the most iconic mountain views in the world — but why go all the way across the ocean when you can find a remarkable view close to home? The Texas Swiss Alps Scenic Drive may not be exactly like Switzerland's famous range, but you'll be wowed just as much by the gorgeous green mountains that grace the horizon. Hop on Highway 470 in Banderas and keep on driving until it turns into Concan's Highway 83 then follow the 337 from Leakey to Medina. Pack a cooler full of Swiss cheese and jerky for your own Texas-Swiss picnic.

  • Red River Roadway
Do you want to take in the beauty of Texas while eating your way through some homecooked meals? Grab your appetite and head out on the Red River Roadway. Stretching from Denton to Gainesville, you'll follow FM 2164 to FM Rte 455 into Forestburg. From there, you'll go down FM Rte 677 along the Red River. During your drive, stop by virtually any restaurant, diner, or hole-in-the-wall cantina that you find and devour exceptional tacos, brisket, and warm pies.

  • Willow City Loop
If there's one scenic drive you should plan in the spring or summer months, it's a trip along the Willow City Loop. During the warmer months, you'll be surrounded by gorgeous greenery and vibrant flowers. Much like the Texas Swiss Alps Scenic Drive, the Willow City Loop is a great way to see another side of Texas' landscape that is rare in many areas of the DFW. Start in Fredericksburg going north on S.R. 16 to Willow City. Take Ranch Road 1323 east to the Willow City Loop and enjoy the sights.

History of the Dallas Chocolate Festival

You may be a chocolate lover—but how much do you actually know about the chocolate-making process? DallasChocolate.org founder Sander Wolf believes that the process of creating chocolate from bean to bar is an exciting journey that all chocolate lovers should learn about. In 2009, Wolf created his website in hopes to educate the masses about local and global chocolate news and history. Instead of simply telling the residents of Dallas about chocolate, he wanted to give them the opportunity to taste unique flavors through an engaging experience that celebrates this tasty treat. What began as a small event featuring only two bean-to-bar chocolate producers turned into one of the can't-miss annual events of the Dallas food scene. The Dallas Chocolate Festival became the website's signature event that draws chocolate lovers and makers from around the world to the Dallas area every autumn.

TxDOT officials select $2.597B bypass alignment for US 380 in Collin County

Collin County residents finally have an answer about solutions to relieve congestion on US 380.  Texas Department of Transportation officials are recommending a bypass for US 380 from the Denton County line to Hunt County line, according to details released at a meeting May 6 in McKinney. TxDOT's preferred alignment is a combination of its previous options, which were labeled in earlier plans as Red A, Red D and Green B.

This preferred alignment will start in Prosper along US 380's current alignment then run north between Ridge Road and Stonebridge Drive in McKinney, avoiding the Tucker Hill neighborhood. The alignment then continues east along Bloomdale Road, moves slightly north and connects with US 75 near Laud Howell Parkway. It reconnects with US 380 at Airport Drive. The alignment also connects US 380 to SH 121 west of the McKinney National Airport. The alignment also runs south of New Hope, north of Princeton and south of Farmersville.

Talk about ways to alleviate traffic congestion on US 380 began in April 2018 when TxDOT presented five proposed alignments for the roadway. Those were narrowed to two in October. In March, residents learned about two new proposed bypass segments being considered for US 380 in Collin County.  TxDOT's recommended alignment is estimated to cost $2.597 billion.

Once the study is complete, a final design, construction plans and cost estimates will be determined.

Boom: Hispanics Lead Housing, Income Surge, Poverty at Record Low

Hispanic Population Growth By 2060Latinos are finding their economic legs under the Trump administration, leading the surge in home ownership and income growth and record low poverty rates, according to two comprehensive new surveys.  While they remain far behind whites in income, they have seen their third consecutive year of income growth and have a higher workplace participation rate, according to the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals and the Hispanic Wealth Project.

In two studies just released, the groups also provided revealing details about Latinos and their growth in America. For example, by 2060, nearly one of every three in the U.S. will identify as Latino.  The reports detailed Hispanic housing and economic trends and found most signs rapidly improving.  What's more, the group's goal of nudging overall Hispanic income up is showing signs of success. The group said that within the next five years, Hispanic median income will triple.Hispanic Homeownership rate

The group listed the positive trends in its income report:

  • For the fourth consecutive year, Hispanics increased their rate of home ownership, reaching a rate of 47.1%. In 2018, Latinos added 362,000 homeowners which is the highest number of owner households added for Latinos since 2005.
  • In 2017, Hispanics saw the third consecutive year of income growth and the highest of any demographic.
  • Between 2016 and 2017, Hispanics increased their real median income by 3.7%. Latino families making an annual income over $200,000 increased from 2.1% in 2011 to 3.8% in 2017, and the percentage of Latino millionaires more than doubled between 2013 and 2016.
  • Poverty rates reached a historic low for Latinos. Simultaneous to median income growth, Hispanics have lowered their poverty rate for three consecutive years. With a poverty rate of 18.3% in 2017, Hispanics reached their lowest level since poverty estimates for Hispanics were first published by the U.S. Census Bureau in 1972.

Hispanic Income Growth

  • Latinos have significantly higher labor force participation rates. Hispanics are employed at a rate of 66.1%, compared to 62.9% of the general population. The Hispanic unemployment rate was reduced by over 7 percentage points between 2009 and 2018, from 12.1% to 4.7%, respectively.
  • Latinos continue to drive small business growth. Between 2014 and 2016, the number of Latino-owned employer firms increased by 13.1%, accounting for 23.8% of the net growth of all employer firms during that period.
  • Participation in retirement accounts for Latinos is increasing. Between 2013 and 2016, Hispanics increased their rate of retirement account ownership from 25.1% to 29.7%, and the value of their retirement accounts increased by roughly 40.4%.

Frisco ISD Sued Over Alleged Elections Discrimination Against Asians

The Frisco school district's at-large system for electing trustees discriminates against the rapidly growing Asian population in the area, according to a federal lawsuit filed Tuesday.  The voting-rights lawsuit is the third in a year against a North Texas school district, all brought by the Brewer Storefront, the pro bono affiliate of the firm Brewer, Attorneys and Counselors, which has also filed voting-rights suits against several other districts and cities.  Frisco demographics have changed rapidly over the past 15 years, as it has been one of the fastest-growing communities in the state.  More than 70% of the district's 13,284 students were white in the 2003-04 school year, according to state data. Now FISD has about 60,000 students, of which about 42% are white, 29% Asian and 13.5% Hispanic. (Some 11% are African-American.)

"So less than half of the children in public schools are white, but they're not able to elect any candidates of color?" said William Brewer, a partner at the storefront. "The voting is clearly polarized in Frisco."

Frisco is one of the few Texas school districts where students of Asian heritage make up a majority on some campuses. The others are Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Coppell, Plano, Fort Bend, Round Rock and Alief.   The Asian population in Frisco has increased in recent years as an active word-of-mouth pipeline drew more and more families as workers from India came to work for the booming software and technology companies in the area.  Then in 2008, a well-known Hindu priest blessed the land in the eastern part of the school district. Many Indian families bought homes in the area, and a Hindu temple was built.

The Brewer Storefront filed a lawsuit against the Lewisville school district in February alleging that all seven trustees there come from affluent, white neighborhoods, so students of color receive a "second-rate" education. That suit is pending.  The Richardson district recently settled the voting-rights lawsuit filed against it last year. That district is moving toward five single-member districts; two board members will continue to be elected at large.  In 2016, Brewer sued Coppell ISD over concerns that the Asian-American community there was being disenfranchised, but that suit was dismissed.

7 Speakeasies Worth Finding in Dallas

Dallas Speakeasy Bars - RE/MAX DFW Associates

Speakeasies rose to prominence during prohibition, illicitly serving alcohol in secret haunts out of sight and out of the law's reach. The fact that alcohol was made legal again more than 80 years ago has done nothing to diminish these establishment's appeal.

Today, speakeasies remain some of the best places in Dallas to grab a drink, with high-end cocktails, tasty happy hour specials, and second-to-none ambiance. Our real estate agents share some of the best old-fashioned watering holes to visit in the DFW area.

  1. Atwater - 4900 McKinney Ave.
Tucked away in an unassuming alleyway behind Henry's Majestic, Atwater is a dark, secretive den that feels like it belongs in another era. Walking into the dimly-lit bar room with its classic atmosphere and vintage decor gives the impression that you've discovered a secret world that you weren't supposed to know about. With high-end cocktails prepared by expert mixologists, it's a discovery you'll be glad you made.

  2. Parliament - 2418 Allen St.
Offering craft beers on tap and towering shelves lined with every spirit you could imagine, Parliament is a hip, cozy, romantic spot to grab a drink in a classic setting. The ambiance falls somewhere between Gatsby's Mansion and Ollivander's Wand Shop, and the bartenders are known for offering the most friendly service in town.

  3. Bourbon & Banter - 1914 Commerce St.
Nestled inside the historic Statler Dallas, Bourbon & Banter isn't just a bar, it's a bourbon library, a cocktail encyclopedia. This beauty salon turned underground lounge serves up endlessly innovative mixed drinks and houses the best bourbon collection in Dallas within its classy, sleek-rustic walls.

  4. High and Tight Barbershop - 2701 Main St.
Tucked away in the historic Deep Ellum Neighborhood, High and Tight Barbershop is exactly what its name implies—and then some. This 1920s-inspired barbershop offers haircuts and trims that are as stylish today as they were in the Roaring 20s, and the adjoining barroom serves up classic cocktails to the sweet sounds of live music.

  5. Black Swan Saloon - 2708 W. Elm St.
With a Vegas-meets-Texas vibe and extraordinary, unique takes on classic cocktails, Black Swan Saloon is a cozy, brick-lined hole-in-the-wall with minimal signage. If you didn't know it was there, you could walk right by and never know what you were missing (and what a shame that would be). Also, when the stage in the corner isn't being used for live music, you'll find a pair of vintage arcade tabletops with Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac-Man, and Space Invaders. It's where the '20s meet the '80s.

  6. Midnight Rambler - 1530 Main St.
Midnight Rambler is a luxurious craft cocktail salon at the equally luxurious Joule Hotel. With a timeless ambiance and deep catalog of cocktails both familiar and exotic, D Magazine calls it the most "Dallas" bar in Dallas. DJs spin records Thursday through Sunday, and a great wine and craft beer list supplements the ever-changing cocktail menu.

  7. Jettison - 1878 Sylvan Ave.
You could visit Houndstooth Coffee in Sylvan Thirty a dozen times and not notice that this hidden gem is right next door. Jettison's spartan decor, and unassuming atmosphere, make it a minimalist take on the speakeasy concept—the collection of alcohol bottles displayed behind the bar is almost shockingly restrained—but the impeccably crafted cocktails confirm that this is one of Dallas' best-kept secrets.

Dallas Homes - Old Red Museum
Dallas homes for sale
put you right in the middle of one of the most vibrant communities in the United States. Dallas is rich in history, and it looks to the future, too: It has employment opportunities, schools, and the world-class amenities you'd expect from a great state capital.

Our real estate agents know everything is bigger in Texas.  Whenever you're in Texas, the past comes alive. This state--the biggest in the lower 49--has some of the most sophisticated cities around, but it also captures the frontier spirit that first made it special. Even big cities like Dallas still maintain a considerable number of historic sites.

One great example is the Museum of Dallas County History and Culture.

It's the kind of place where you'll feel like you've just stepped into the story of Texas, from pre-settlement to the Old West and beyond.

Hit the Trail with the Old Red: The Top Museum of Dallas County History and Culture

The Old Red is one of the flagship museums in a state known for them. Standing right in the heart of Dallas at Dealey Plaza, the Old Red itself is a fascinating historic structure. Built back in 1892, it was initially a courthouse. Now, it stocks four floors of interactive exhibits.

Old Red is perched at one of the most momentous crossroads anywhere in Texas. It's just steps from the JFK Memorial, the Sixth Floor Museum, and the city's historic West End. Students, locals, and guests from all over the world make the Big Red part of their educational tour of beautiful Dallas.

The Museum--open from 9 am to 5 pm daily--has all of the following:

  • The stunning Old Red Clock Tower, still preserved and keeping time to this day.
  • Four terracotta wyverns – two of them restored, two still completely original.
  • The Hatton Sumners Restored Courtroom with judge's bench, the jury box, and seating.
  • The striking Grand Staircase, completely restored to its original 1892 appearance.

When you visit, you'll find a special exhibit gallery on the first floor covering new topics with each season. On the second floor, permanent installations provide enrichment to guests of all ages: Highlights include the four mini-theaters, touch-screen computers, and the learning center. Our team of experts at RE/MAX DFW Associates works overtime to make sure you have all of the best houses on the market at your disposal when you want to move to Dallas-Fort Worth.

Money Magazine Rates Frisco #1 in USA

Frisco Voted Best Places to Live NOTES: Median home price is based on Q1 2018. Home price to income is calculated using median home price and median family income. SOURCES: Synergos Technologies, Realtor.com, Moody's Analytics, NOAA, Ed.gov. Illustrations  by Martin Laksman. For full Best Places to Live methodology, see money.com/BPLmethodology.

Money is the latest national publication to sing the praises of Frisco, listing the North Texas suburb as No. 1 in its 2018 best places to live report. After compiling data on everything from school graduation rates to median home prices, the fast-growing community north of Dallas beat out 582 other communities -- many of them suburbs -- to claim the top spot.  One of the highest grades in the report went to Frisco's education system.  "With more than 70 campuses, the Frisco Independent School District has the highest graduation rate of all the cities and towns Money evaluated this year," the report said. Frisco's graduation rate is 98 percent.

It lists Frisco's population as about 179,000, its median family income as $129,118 and its median home price as $349,000. In explaining its methodology, the finance-focused publication looked only at places with populations of 50,000 or greater. "We eliminated any place that had more than double the national crime risk, less than 85 percent of its state's median household income, or a lack of ethnic diversity. This gave us 583 places," Money said."We put the greatest weight on economic health, public school performance, and local amenities. Housing, cost of living, and diversity were also critical components," it said. The methodology information listed online did not say how the study's authors defined "lack of ethnic diversity." Frisco's population is 75 percent white, according to Frisco.com

Money also lauded Frisco for it public-private partnerships -- particularly the Ford Center at The Star. That athletic facility, built as part of a partnership with schools, the city and the Dallas Cowboys, doubles as a place for school football games and a practice field for the NFL team.   The Star also serves as the Cowboys' headquarters.

Frisco, Allen and McKinney routinely show up on "best of" lists. In 2016, career expert website Zippia named Frisco as the most successful city in America. The only other Texas city in Money's top 25 was Flower Mound, which ranked 16th.

When you visit Fort Worth Texas, spend some time getting to know our thriving metroplex. You'll find all the art, culture, dining, and exciting entertainment you'd expect of a world-class city. If you stretch your visit into the weekend, you can also experience the fast-paced thrills of NASCAR racing.

Texas Motor Speedway

Since 1996, NASCAR fans have electrified the intersection of 35 West and Highway 114. The location was chosen for its easy highway access, and the fans show up by the thousands.

The Speedway hosts a yearlong schedule that includes Formula Drift, Legends Racing, the Camping World Truck Series, and special events including benefits for Texas Motor Speedway Children's Charities. In November, this versatile venue will host the 2018 Red Bull Air Race Championship

It's Big

The Speedway's track, grandstand, and other structures fill a 1,500-acre space. The main course is 1.5 miles with an 800 feet long pit road. The Lil' Texas Motor Speedway track which hosts US Legends Car Racing is 1/5 mile long. There's also a .4 mile clay surface track. The Speedway has a 181,655 fan seating capacity, including luxury and Victory Lane Club suites.

Tickets

You have several online ticket-buying options: individual tickets, NASCAR 3-ticket Playoff Packs, and create your ticket packages with preferred upgrades. Upgrades include reserved parking, Raceday University, Infield Access, Weekend Pit Pass, and more. You can also schedule a Driver Appearance using the Texas Motor Speedway app.

Fan Assistance

There are 24 concession buildings, 23 souvenir buildings 1,656 ladies restrooms, and 843 guy's restrooms on-site to keep fans happy, well fed and comfortable. Mobile medical teams are available to assist sick or injured fans.

The Speedway checklist recommends a list of items to bring along. It includes outdoor accessories such as a hat, camera, and sunglasses. It also suggests a few not-so-obvious items such as earplugs (because it gets loud) and cash (so your beer purchases don't show up on your bank statement.)

Parking

Most Speedway parking is free. Trams and shuttles loop the Lone Star Circle providing free pick ups and drop offs to and from the raceway. There is 300 paved bus parking spots and handicap parking available in the Express, Crystal, and Speedway Club lots. Paid reserved VIP parking gives you easier access to the track.

Camping at the Speedway

These include a tent camping area, a VIP area, and a family area. During April and November events there are also 1,799 unreserved camping spaces available.

The family camping section is fenced-in and has 24-hr security. The VIP lot has 24-hr security, paved lots, electrical hookups, and other amenities. RV drivers can set up camp in Burnout Alley.

Raceway Ministries At Texas Motor Speedway

The Speedway Ministries hold devotionals each race day and a worship service each Sunday. Chaplains are available for crisis intervention and RMTMS volunteers assist fans with on-site and off-site services.

Saltgrass Steakhouse in Irving is Totally Texas

Irving, TX - Saltgrass Steakhouse
Less than 20 minutes from the heart of Dallas, the city of Irving, TX offers endless options for shopping, dining and entertainment. Some of our real estate agents' favorite spots in the DFW area can be found right here, and today we want to highlight one of the area's best restaurants – Saltgrass Steakhouse in Irving, TX.

Irving's Award-Winning Steakhouse

Saltgrass Steakhouse serves Certified Angus Beef® steaks – the finest in the world – which exceeds even USDA Choice beef in taste and tenderness. The restaurant also has a lot more to offer besides steak, but let's face it. The beef is the main attraction here, and rightly so.

From Pat's Ribeye to the Silver Star Porterhouse and Maudeen's Center Cut Filet, Saltgrass Steakhouse excels when it comes to prime cuts of char-grilled beef, slathered in fresh garlic butter and seasoned with their signature Saltgrass-7 Steak Spice. Their lunch and dinner menus also offer incredible burgers, mouth-watering ribs, fresh seafood, poultry and some of the best ribs around. Besides, the appetizers, sides and desserts alone are worth making a trip for. Try the Two-Fork Cheese Cake, or the homemade beer bread, served warm with honey butter. All breads, dressings and soups are made from scratch daily.

The bar at Saltgrass Steakhouse serves up craft beer in frosty mugs, along with top shelf agave margaritas, an incredible variety of excellent cocktails and an extensive wine list. Stop in for a drink, and there's a good chance you'll be tempted to stick around for a full meal.

A Historic Texas Tradition

Saltgrass Steakhouse got its start in 1991 in Houston, and now has dozens of locations all over the country. The original location sits right alongside the legendary Salt Grass Trail, a historic route used by cattle herders in the 19th century to drive their livestock south to graze on the fertile salt grasses of the Texas Gulf Coast.

It was a journey known far and wide for producing the best beef in Texas, a tradition that Saltgrass Steakhouse carries on today. The trail ride was revived in the 1950s, and has continued to this day, becoming an annual celebration of the original Texas spirit.

The Irving, TX location of Saltgrass Steakhouse is just minutes from some of the best attractions in Irving, including Lakeview Park, the Sam Houston Trail, Luna Vista Golf Course and the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. Downtown Dallas is just 20 minutes away, and Fort worth is just a 30 minute drive.

Fort Worth Water Gardens

Fort Worth Water Gardens
A beautiful oasis in the heart of Downtown Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Water Gardens are truly a place like no other. Whether you're a long-time local or just visiting the city to check out Fort Worth homes for sale, the Water Gardens are one of the greatest must-see attractions in Fort Worth.

Part of the Fort Worth Landscape

Built in 1974, the Fort Worth Water Gardens were designed by the acclaimed American Architect Philip Johnson, and drew immediate acclaim for their unique blend of futuristic architecture and natural elements. To this day, the gardens are an architectural and engineering marvel that must be experienced firsthand.

You can explore a variety of water features as you stroll through this fascinating urban park, including three pools that are as different as they are beautiful.

  • The Meditation Pool is as calm and relaxing as its name suggests. Here, a thin plane of water flows down steep, nearly 90-degree walls into a serene pool surrounded by cypress trees. The sound of the water is almost like that of a gentle rain shower, making this a great place to be still and focus your mind.
  • The Aerating Pool is, in a way, the polar opposite of the Meditation Pool. It's all motion and activity, with 40 nozzles spraying 871 gallons of water every minute over a deep pool surrounded by lofty oaks. The mist from the spraying nozzles creates the illusion of a bridge made of water spanning the pool.
  • The Active Pool is unquestionably the centerpiece of the Fort Worth Water Gardens, with water cascading 38 feet down a series of terraces and steps into a pool at the bottom. Visitors can walk down the terraced steps of the gigantic Active Pool to find themselves surrounded by the sight and sound of moving water, a unique and immersive experience.

Drawing visitors from all over the world, the Fort Worth Water Gardens could almost be seen as a symbol for how much Fort Worth has progressed over the years. The area that the Water Gardens now cover was once one of the most notorious red light districts in Texas, a stretch of saloons, brothels and gambling halls that earned the nickname, "Hell's Half Acre."

Today, the Fort Worth Water Gardens encompass about 4.3 acres in the heart of Fort Worth's revitalized downtown. It's within walking distance of dozens of great shops, bars and eateries and just footsteps away from landmarks like Saint Patrick Cathedral and the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Guide to Finding the Perfect Christmas Tree in Dallas

Dallas Christmas Tree Guide
Since the Christmas holidays come only once a year, families with homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area spend time planning for this most special of seasons. Family dinners, secret gift-wrapping sessions, Christmas card lists, (and most importantly) picking and decoration of the Christmas tree are all part of the holiday season.

The Christmas tree with its unique collection of ornaments and lights has a tradition that goes back hundreds of years. They are a fun and cheery part of the holiday celebration and picking out the perfect Christmas tree for your Arlington home is an exciting event for the whole family. Here are tips to find the healthiest and freshest trees for your new home in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

  • Measure
Before families leave their Plano homes to search for a tree lot or farm, they should be mindful of the dimensions of the living space. To determine the tree size that will fit into your home, you must measure the height of the ceiling as well as the width of the area you want to site the tree. You should also subtract the height of the tree stand as well as the topper you intend putting on the tree. Ensure that the tree stand is sufficient to contain the tree you plan on buying.

  • Find a Tree Farm
Families relocating to Colleyville homes may not be familiar with the tree farms or lots in the neighborhood. Our real estate agents know a lot about local businesses and can help you find a tree farm closest to your home or visit the Texas Christmas Tree Growers Association for various tree farms near you. Once you arrive at the tree farm, ask the staff for information about the kinds of trees they have. Or better still, you can call ahead to ensure that they have the kind of trees you prefer.

  • Know Your Christmas Trees
Due to the variety of Christmas trees available, families with Irving homes may find it difficult to pick the right one for their living space. Here is a list of popular varieties growing on Texas tree farms.

    - Eastern Red Cedar
Known for its excellent aroma and dense branches, the Eastern cedar tree is a good choice for a Christmas tree. However, it has sticky needles and a short house life.

    - Virginia Pine
This is a short-needled pine with stout branches and the characteristic pine fragrance. It is the most common type of farm tree in the South.

    - Leyland Cypress
The Leyland cypress is a hybrid tree with little aroma and dark green foliage. It is ideal for people with tree allergies and can outlast other kinds of cut trees.

  • Caring for the Christmas Tree
Most importantly, you must know how to keep the tree fresh throughout the Christmas holidays to prevent it from dying off. Once the tree has been transported to your Flower Mound home, you must immediately place its trunk in water. Position the tree away from fireplaces and heating systems and ensure that you check its water reservoir daily.

Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District

Fort Worth Stockyard National Historic District
Interested in experiencing the history, heritage, and culture of Fort Worth, TX, up close and personal? The Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District is a spectacular example of what makes life in the city so special, with history, entertainment, and excitement around every corner. Visiting the Fort Worth Stockyards is like stepping back into a different era, where daily cattle drives, raucous rodeos, and lively, open-air markets are simply part of daily life. There is so much to see in the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, and our team is excited to tell you all about it.

History, Food, and Texas Fun at the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District

Fort Worth History

How did the Fort Worth Stockyards get its start? Investor Greenlief Simpson visited Fort Worth at the request of a local businessman, found a stockyard full of cattle, and decided to invest. Little did he know that the stockyard was not normally so full, and the extra cattle were there simply due to a railroad strike mixed with some bad weather. Still, the Fort Worth Stockyards had its investor, and would soon become one of the most successful stockyards in the country. Today, you can experience more than 100 years of Fort Worth history, through guided tours or at your own leisure.

Fabulous Food

One of the best things about Fort Worth homes is that you'll never be far from a fantastic meal, and that's certainly true when you visit the Fort Worth Stockyards. Sample the flavors of Texas with tender, juicy barbecue, on-the-border cuisine, steakhouses, family dining, and plenty of places to grab a drink after your meal.

Entertainment and Everyday Fun

There is so much to see in the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, from family fun to a vibrant, exciting nightlife. Take in one of the twice-daily cattle drives through the district to see what the stockyards are all about, or visit the Cowtown Opry for live performances with a historic spin. The Fort Worth Stockyards are also filled with the sounds of great music, with a wide variety of performance venues suited to both families and adults looking for a fun night on the town.

Shopping the Stockyards

Whether you're looking for a souvenir, vintage gear, or some of the finest leather products you'll find anywhere, the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District has you covered. Enjoy a wide range of shopping experiences, including art galleries, vintage shops, custom hats, hand-crafted products, jewelry, and antiques. Shop the finest Texas styles, and uncover hidden gems that you won't find anywhere else.

Special Events

There's plenty to do in the Fort Worth Stockyards no matter when you visit, and there will also be special days to circle on your calendar. The schedule of special events runs year-round at the Fort Worth Stockyards, with live performances, holiday events, rodeos, Wild West shows, and plenty of fun surprises. Families will love all of the kid-friendly events on the schedule, and the many festivals that visit throughout the year. The people of Fort Worth are big on giving back to the community, so it's no surprise that you'll also find a busy schedule of charitable events raising money for good causes.

Dallas-Fort Worth Halloween Fun for the Entire Family

DFW Community Halloween Events
Families with homes in Fort Worth have their choice of Halloween thrills and chills. Your whole family can walk the neighborhood in quirky disguises. You can fill your days and nights with planned events and whimsical, scary adventures. But not too scary!

When the smallest goblins take part in family Halloween fun, it's important to steer clear of super scary events. Traditional haunting venues may frighten young children a bit too much. They may cause little people nightmares that keep the whole family up late at night.

Our real estate agents know a lot about local businesses, attractions, and family-friendly events. We draw on that knowledge to recommend a list of Halloween events that promise fun for the entire family.

  • First United Methodist Church Halloween Carnival
    October 22, 2017 3:00 to 5:00 PM
Admission: free with canned goods donations

Bring your little ones to FUMC in Fort Worth for the annual fun-filled Halloween Carnival. Little ones can wear their costumes. They'll enjoy bounce house fun and pony rides. You'll have a ball watching your children smile as they enjoy kid-friendly games, crafts, prizes, and a live animal petting zoo.

  • Boo at The Zoo - October 27, 28, and 20, 2017
    10:00 am to 5:00 PM
Admission: Free with a zoo admission

Boo at The Zoo is a family favorite for many of our real estate agents. The Fort Worth Zoo's annual daytime, scare-free Halloween event is three full days of activities for the entire family. Children will enjoy treat stations, carnival games, and a full schedule of animal entertainment.

  • Treat Street 2017 at Fort Worth Stockyards Historic District
    October 31, 2017 - 5:00 to 7:00 PM
    Admission: Free

Your entire family is invited to an evening of fun at the Fort Worth Stockyards Station Mall. Family-friendly activities include a pumpkin decorating contest, fun games, hayrides, and more. Children under 12-years-old in costumes can trick-or-treat at participating shops.

  • Boo Bash at Old Town, Burleson, TX
    6:00 to 8:00 PM
    Admission: free

The City of Burleson invites local kids 12 and under to a night of Halloween fun at the Boo Bash. Children are encouraged to wear costumes. They can play in bounce houses, decorate a free pumpkin, listen to storytellers, and march in a Halloween parade.

Open House Etiquette for Dallas Home Buyers

Open House Dos & Don'ts
A Buyer's Guide to Open House Etiquette

An open house is a great opportunity to tour homes for sale in your community without having to schedule an appointment.

Hitting open houses on a given Sunday can also help you gauge available homes in a market and begin a relationship with a REALTOR® if you have not already found one. If you're new to "Open House Sundays," here are easy tips for making your search for Dallas homes more enjoyable and productive.

  1. It's okay to walk in.
You don't need to ring the doorbell or knock, unless there is a sign posted instructing you to do so. Someone may be outside or at the door to greet you.

  2. Introduce yourself.
The person hosting the open house may not be the agent who is selling the home, but an associate agent who is hoping to represent a buyer. If you don't have a REALTOR® representing you, let them know that you are still looking for a buyer's agent. Getting there early allows you to talk with the agent and determine if you want to work with that person.

  3. Sign in.
You may be asked to sign in and provide contact information. This makes it easier for the seller's agent to follow up with you. Even if you don't like the house, it's still a good idea to leave your phone number or email address, as the agent could have other listings that may interest you. If you prefer not to sign in, make sure to introduce yourself and say hello so the agent can keep an eye on who's touring the home.

  4. Beat the crowd.
Try to arrive as soon as the open house starts. (NOT before that time!) The agent will have time to show you around and give your personal attention.

  5. Don't show up last minute.
Don't wait until the last minute to arrive. The REALTOR® has most likely been there all day and is ready to pack it up and head home. You want to take your time when looking at the house, so contact the seller's agent and arrange a personal showing if you're running late.

  6. Wear appropriate, comfortable clothing and shoes.
You don't want to look under or overdressed, so choose something casual you'd wear every day. Nice jeans and a t-shirt or are fine for attending an open house. You're probably going to be doing a lot of walking, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

  7. It's okay to politely ask valid questions.
Ask about the seller's motivation and if there are any offers. REALTORS® can also give you insight on the neighborhood and nearby schools. Be prepared to ask questions about plumbing, electrical systems, roof and other major components of the home. Please don't take an antagonistic tone or corner the agent with countless questions during a busy open house.

  8. Don't be nosy.
Of course you want to check out closets and other storage space, but don't go through personal belongings. It's okay to a quick peek, but don't disturb any items that are stored in them.

  9. Don't criticize.
Remember this is the seller's home. Don't criticize it during the tour. If there are multiple offers, you don't want the seller selecting another buyer because they heard you saying something negative about their home.

Our Dallas REALTORS® can guide you every step of the way during your search for a home. Contact RE/MAX DFW Associates today.

Finding Your Forever Home in Frisco TX

Frisco TX Forever Home
In a study released earlier this year, GoodCall, a South Carolina data analysis firm, revealed three Collin County cities--FriscoAllen and Richardson, were among the best cities nationwide to buy forever homes. According to GoodCall, "High-ranking cities are those that generally are affordable with growing home values, growing population, low unemployment and crime rates, and an educated population.  Texas is the place to go if you're looking to settle in for the long haul."

Our team at RE/MAX DFW Associates--especially our REALTORS® in Frisco--weren't too surprised with GoodCall's results.  We live and work in the local area and love our community.

Let's take a look at why Frisco ranked #3 on their list.

Choose Frisco as Your Forever Home

It's not hard to understand why Frisco has earned its name as the"Texas Rising Star." Frisco, a suburb of Dallas, is one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States where home values are rising.

Frisco's residents enjoy living in a community with local pride and small-town charm while being only a short drive from the excitement of living in the DFW Metroplex.

Sports City USA

Frisco is home to a multitude of entertainment and attractions including NFL's Dallas Cowboys headquarters and training center, the FC Dallas soccer team, the Frisco RoughRiders Class AA baseball team, the Dallas Stars NHL team, and the Texas Legends.

Culture in the City

There is an array of cultural venues, craft studios, and museums like the Black Box Theatre, Sci-Tech Discovery Center, Texas Sculpture Garden as well as painting and crafts studios.

Outdoor Adventures

Frisco TX Parks
We've got hiking trails, biking trails and parks located throughout Frisco just waiting to be explore and enjoyed.  We've got an outdoor adventure waiting for you: Hiking and biking...you'll find it, taking your kids for an afternoon at the park...got that too.  Frisco has received the designation as "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation.

Taking a Bite Out of Frisco

Whether your tastes run from simple to sophisticated, Frisco's culinary scene offers s variety of options for any appetite.  Order a burger from Kenny's Burger Joint or an Italian delight from Tavolo Italia.  Indulge in Texas BBQ from 3 Stacks Smokehouse or finish the evening at Andy's Frozen Custard.

Shopping and Fashion

Frisco is the ultimate shopping mecca.  Second only to sports in our community, shopping is one of the most popular things to do in Frisco.  Visit Stonebriar Centre in North Dallas if you prefer a shopping mall experience or for the charm of boutique shopping in Frisco, visit the Blue Door Boutique or Lillian Welch.

Frisco Awards and Accolades

Frisco continually racks up accolades from nationally recognized publications like CNN, Money Magazine and Men's Journal as "The Best Places to Buy a Forever Home," "One of the Best Place to Live," and even, "#1 Place to Raise an Athlete." USA Today ranked Frisco as the second safest city in Texas to live.

Mandalay Canal Walk at Las Colinas

Mandalay Canal Walk Las Colinas
Visitors have called the Mandalay Canal Walk at Las Colinas a "hidden secret path." Those of us with homes in Irving know the walkway is easy to find. It follows the path of the man-made waterway as it joins Lake Carolyn. The Canal Walk is one of the unique features that help make the Las Colinas planned community a wonderful place to call home.

Our REALTORS® in Irving understand that the Canal Walk at Las Colinas is no secret. Still, we believe it's important to offer friendly reminders of just how beautiful and peaceful our community can be.

When you walk the canal
The Canal Walk gives you access to a beautiful ground level city view. You follow a patterned-brick path that syncs with the waterway's arcs and curves. You wander past gleaming office buildings, hotels, arched entryways, and architecture with a distinctive European flair.

Walking the path is a unique way to appreciate the Las Colinas fusion of futuristic growth and old world charm. Best of all, it's a great way to see the commercial district without traffic getting in the way.

More than just a walk
The path is tree-lined and peaceful, ideal for a solo morning walk, an afternoon lunch with coworkers, or a romantic evening stroll. Some restaurants, shops, hotels, and local entertainment venues border the walkway. Others are nearby or a doable walking distance.

As you walk, you'll also see towering buildings, floral accents, and secluded inlets with man-made waterfalls. The celebrated Mustangs of Colinas sculpture and museum are nearby as well.

Mandalay Canal Gondola RideAnd if you don't feel like walking
If a peaceful walk isn't enough to satisfy your need for motion, you'll find a few options along the way.

  • Stand Up Paddle
If you can imagine yourself surfing and rowing at the same time, you might enjoy stand up paddling. As a Stand Up Paddle participant, you'll learn to "walk on water" using a boat/surf board style device. After you complete your introductory training you'll be able to paddle the canal instead of walking the path.

  • Gondola Cruises
When you see a gondola cruising the Las Colinas canal, you'll feel you've been transported to Venice. Gondola Adventures will schedule your tour on a traditional or electric-powered gondola. You can ride a gondola simply for access to a unique view of Las Colinas or arrange a special occasion cruise. P.S. Be prepared to kiss your partner as you pass under a bridge.

  • DART Transportation
If you want to see the canal but prefer not to walk, you can hop aboard a DART Area Personal Transit train. It's easy to make an APT connection from the Las Colinas Urban Center Station. It will speed you along the canal route if you decide not to walk.

Station stops provide People Movers to transport you throughout the community. APT service is free.

Get to know your community
We believe it's important to know your community. Contact RE/MAX DFW Associates when you need information on buying or selling your Irving home or if you simply want information about the businesses, activities, and entertainment in your community.

How to Find the Right Dallas Neighborhood for You

Finding the Right Dallas Neighborhood to Buy a HomeDallas is a big city in every sense of the word, and one of the great things about buying a house here is that the city has a neighborhood to suit every taste. Narrowing down your list to find the right Dallas neighborhood for you is one of the most important steps in the preparation process that leads to finding a home that you will love long-term. Whether you love the arts, the outdoors, or simply want the best education possible for your children, there's a Dallas neighborhood with your name on it.

Dreaming of Dallas: How to Find a Neighborhood You'll Truly Love

The first step in finding the right neighborhood is doing your research, and if possible hands-on is preferable to learning from a distance. You can learn about school districts, employment opportunities, and economic indicators online, and then make in-person visits to the neighborhoods that pique your interest. Ahead, we'll provide examples of some of the types of neighborhoods you'll find around Dallas, along with more tips on finding the right match.

  • Trophy Club, TX – Master Planned Community – Homes in Trophy Club are designed with convenience and aesthetic appeal in mind, just like the community itself. Master Planned Communities like Trophy Club are popular around Dallas, and each community is designed from the ground up to make life as pleasant as possible for residents. Trophy Club is also home to a world-class golf course, and outdoor fun is typically a big part of life when you live in a Master Planned Community.

  • Prosper, TX – Dallas Suburb – The city of Dallas is surrounded by smaller suburbs that allow you to enjoy the charms of small-town living while still residing close to the big city. Suburbs like Prosper, TX tend to be laid back, but never boring. These communities often feature ample outdoor spaces, including parks, trails, gardens, and golf courses. Prosper homes are a perfect fit if you want the excitement of DFW but prefer buying a house in a place with a little less population density than you'll find in larger communities.

  • McKinney, TX – Suburban City/Superb School District – The suburban cities around Dallas are large enough to be their own cities, but close enough to be part of the DFW Metro Area. DFW suburban cities like McKinney, TX boast some of the best school districts in the entire country, and are very popular among families for that reason. McKinney homes often feature a very luxurious design touch, and hold their value well over time.

  • Out-of-Town Shoppers – If you currently live far away from the city, connecting with social media groups for Dallas neighborhoods will allow you to chat with locals about what life is like in each location before buying a house. Many Dallas neighborhoods also have their own dedicated websites, including the Bishop Arts District, Downtown Dallas, and the Dallas Arts District.

  • Ask Your Agent – Whether you're shopping from afar or exploring first-hand, your real estate agent should be a valuable resource throughout the process of shopping for Dallas homes. Ask questions, bounce around ideas, and keep in touch with your agent so you have a finger on the pulse of the local real estate market. Buying a home is a big decision, and you deserve the right real estate agent in your corner.
